CREATING NEW WORKS
OF ART WITH PURPOSE

Join CDI’s four-year initiative to raise $250,000 for our #artfortheplanet program to expand our creation of exciting, new, performances, dance films, and events that raise awareness about the need to care for our planet.

Supporting this initiative will not only enable Chitresh Das Institute to produce powerful and meaningful works of art, but also ensure that the legacy of kathak and Pandit Chitresh Das thrives for current and future generations by doing the following:

  1. Teach and pass on this art form to the next generation.

  2. Present performances of the highest caliber, ranging from traditional, innovative, and collaborative.

  3. Utilize the platform that the art provides to contribute positively to our communities and the world in which we live.

CHALLENGE

We feel as an arts organization, we have a platform and we need to utilize to raise awareness of climate change and other key issues, as well as advocate for the tradition and future of kathak and Indian classical art.

PLAN AND IMPACT

From 2021 to 2025 we are presenting works that advance climate awareness with our professional and school show productions, short dance films, and touring. We are raising $250,000 to support this fourth-year effort to support artist fees, production costs, and staffing.

CDI has already brought performances to New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Canada, and others, and now will be touring India in Jan-Feb 2024 and more exciting events in 2024 and 2025. Join us in reaching new audiences and new generations with world class kathak and Indian classical arts, with seva (service) as a guiding value.
